Get a Free Ice Cream!

As part of our Missions Reading Goal, we have partnered with local ice cream shop Morton’s Moo to dish up an incentive for completing all six Missions books: a free pint of ice cream!

There are 2 different sets of books for adults and children, but all are invited to participate, read and discover about the work of the Church of the Nazarene around the world. The books are available in the Missions Library in the foyer, where books and DVDs from past years are also available to check out. In order to earn the free ice cream, you must read the set of books for the current year.

Fine Print: You can pick up a bookmark which has each book listed on it. After reading the book, catch up with our Missions President Cara Raymaker for her signature on the bookmark. Don’t lose it! Complete and hand in before March 31st, 2016 – Cara will reward you with a gift card for a free pint of ice cream at Morton’s Moo!

Coming Up: Missionaries to Haiti Darin & Tonya Kucey

Kucey Family 2013

In July we will have the great opportunity to hear from Darin & Tonya Kucey, Missionaries to Haiti. An article in Engage magazine describes their experience, and it is a profound description of the work of the Church of the Nazarene, which “is the largest protestant denomination in the country” which is “the most impoverished nation in the Western hemisphere.”

Welcome to Our New Members

New Members
(From left to right) Patty Dorzuk, Brian Dorzuk, Pastor Joe Donahue, Sarah Rice, David Rice, Becca Mileaf

On the first day of Advent we welcomed five new members into our church! It is always exciting to see new faces. We are especially excited because ALL five have already deeply connected into the church and are serving the Lord!

Brian & Patty Dorzuk

Brian and Patty Dorzuk came to us from the Living Water Wesleyan Church, Pleasantville, NJ. From their 3rd week of arriving at ECN they started serving on the Worship Team. Their humility, gifts, leadership, and even their dog Bruiser have all been a catalyst that has not only brought excellence in worship, but has welcomed others to the worship ministry as well. In just six months after their arrival, the team has grown from two to TEN! Welcome Dorzuks!

David & Sarah Rice

The Rice family came to us from the South Portland Church of the Nazarene, taking the scenic route through Pennsylvania where they have lived the last 3 years. David & Sarah, along with their sons Alex and Nat, moved to Ellsworth over the Summer and almost immediately were led to ECN through their former participation and service at our sister church in South Portland. As soon as they walked through the door their was an immediate sense of fellowship and encouragement! Sarah immediately stepped forward and began singing on the Worship Team, and David serves in the Sunday School as well as Youth & Children’s Ministry. Welcome Rices!

Becca Mileaf

Becca and her husband Bryan have been residents of Ellsworth since 2012. She came to this area after spending her childhood in Fairfield, ME and attending college at UMM. They have three adorable children (codename “The Mayhem!”) who have a great energy and enthusiasm. Becca immediately began serving in the Nursery and Children’s Ministry, and now serves as our Nursery Director. Welcome Becca!

Grant Approved!

Today the Oldham Little Church Foundation has announced approval for a grant for the Ellsworth Church of the Nazarene!

In January we were notified that we were approved to move forward in the grant process, and we have now received notification of approval for this grant from the Oldham Little Church Foundation to support a roofing project. This process has been in the works for the better part of ten months, and has included reviewing multiple estimates from contractors and submitting a Letter of Intent as well as the full grant proposal to OLCF describing the mission, background, and organization of the Ellsworth Church of the Nazarene and the target project.

The total project is estimated at $11,300 and we now stand with a gap of only $2800. If you would like to donate towards helping us reaching this goal, your tax-deductible gift can be provided online or via postal mail at:
